Skinned [Sound Residue] 2003

Worth Ryder Gallery, University of California Berkeley

Sculpture/Installation, life-size latex figure & skin (crocheted as one continuous piece), five speaker pods

The result of thinking about sound as vibration…as waves bounching off the body or actually becoming absorbed by the body. I imagined silence, a figure with no ears, having recently hatched or shed her skin, leaving behind the sounds embedded in the skin as a residue of her life.
