Waiting Room (1990)

The Waiting Room, a place to sit and wait with anticipation for something to happen

25’ x 18’ x 14’ installation, steel, wood, beeswax, chicken eggs, and water.

UC Santa Barbara, College of Creative Studies gallery divided into two rooms, one room outside of the other. The outer-room contained three large benches with two carved troughs on either end, lined with beeswax and filled with water. The inner-room had two more of the same large benches, a steel floor, and a custom fabricated incubator. On the bottom of the incubator were the same beeswax troughs filled with water, only here it is to keep the incubator humid. The waiting room was simply a place to sit and wait with anticipation for something to happen.
