Why You Sleep (1994)

Site-specific installation was installed in the old meat-packing district in NYC.

Steam rose from the pots of simmering water, fogging the windows behind the table of the cow bones . Between the windows was a video with an image of a woman being massaged. Looking across the table of bones you see a cabinet (with a mirror backing) that housed more cow bones, but here they are wrapped in white cloth.  Table of cow bones collected from the butcher on the first floor. I was interested in paying respect to the cows feeding folks in the city, as an homage to their lives.

I still have all the bones.
